Salt Lake City invites you to “See the Spike”
Well, boys–I found another one for you! Next Friday on 5/11, the Salt Lake City ARTCC (ZLC) will be featuring an event taking place out of their busiest Class B airport, KSLC. What a great way to come and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of the Transcontinental Railroad in Promontory, Utah!
Over the past two (2) weeks, Connor and I have welcomed a total of five (5) new pilots to this airline and we’re proud to say that we’re happy to have all of you! But with this, we need you to help us raise awareness of this airline. We need you to help us spread the “bluWave” across the coast (I’m talking about our callsign).
Many of you are new to the industry, and to that I say: no problem! We want to train you and share the level of experience that more senior pilots share with you to help you become experts in this field. This event is the perfect opportunity for that. I encourage any of you to organize flights with other pilots via TeamSpeak or the forums. Don’t be a stranger, because we can help!

Read the ARTCC’s comment after the break.
This month marks the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad at Promontory Point just about 100 miles from Salt Lake City. On May 10th 1862 the Central Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad came together at this point where they hammered a Golden Spike. Rail was the preferred way to travel at the time but today aviation has far exceeded rail travel. Railroads do still handle freight much more efficient as the average train carries the freight of over 1,000 trucks at about 1 gallon of fuel per ton. There will be big festivities this year commemorating this great event 150 years ago so join us and fly into Salt Lake City as we staff up for FNO May 11 from 1800-2000 Mountain Time.
